Bourbon Peach Smash with Fresh Mint and Lemon

Bourbon Peach Smash with Fresh Mint and Lemon

Add the peach slices, mint leaves and simple syrup to a shaker and gently muddle to release the juices and oils.

Serves 2

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe peach, sliced (plus extra for garnish)
  • 8 fresh mint leaves, plus sprigs for garnish
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 0.75 oz simple syrup
  • 4 oz bourbon
  • Club soda, to top
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Add the peach slices, mint leaves and simple syrup to a shaker and gently muddle to release the juices and oils.
  2. Pour in the lemon juice and bourbon and fill the shaker with ice.
  3. Shake hard for about 15 seconds until well chilled.
  4. Strain into two rocks glasses filled with fresh ice.
  5. Top each with a splash of club soda for a little lift.
  6. Garnish with a peach slice and a slapped mint sprig to wake up the aroma.
  7. The smash is a classic American summer template — spirit, fresh fruit, herbs and citrus over ice — dating back to the 1800s. Ripe grilled-season peaches and bright mint make this bourbon version taste like a back-porch Fourth of July; for a lighter pour, simply cut the bourbon and add more soda.
