Add the frozen mango, spiced rum, lime juice, orange juice, and honey to a blender.
Serves 4
Ingredients
- 2 cups frozen mango chunks
- 3 ounces aged spiced rum
- 2 ounces fresh lime juice
- 2 ounces orange juice
- 1 tablespoon honey or simple syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
- 2 cups ice
- 1 lime, sliced, for garnish
- 4 fresh mint sprigs, for garnish
Instructions
- Add the frozen mango, spiced rum, lime juice, orange juice, and honey to a blender.
- Pour in the ice and blend on high until thick, smooth, and slushy.
- Taste and adjust with a little more lime for tartness or honey for sweetness.
- Add a pinch of the grated nutmeg into the blender and pulse once to fold it through.
- Pour into four chilled glasses right to the rim.
- Grate a whisper more nutmeg over each glass for that classic Bajan aroma.
- Garnish with a lime slice and a sprig of fresh mint.
- Serve at once with a wide straw while the punch is icy and frosty.
- The rum punch tradition runs deep in Barbados, the birthplace of rum, summed up by the old island rhyme of one of sour, two of sweet, three of strong, and four of weak; this frozen mango riff keeps that easygoing balance while the nutmeg dusting is the unmistakable Bajan signature.
