Red, White and Blue Frozen Berry Sangria with Citrus

Red, White and Blue Frozen Berry Sangria with Citrus

In a large pitcher, combine the white wine, white rum, triple sec and simple syrup, stirring until the syrup dissolves.

Serves 6

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle dry white wine, chilled
  • 1/2 cup white rum
  • 1/4 cup triple sec
  • 3 tbsp simple syrup
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups ice
  • 1 cup chilled club soda
  • Fresh mint sprigs, to garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pitcher, combine the white wine, white rum, triple sec and simple syrup, stirring until the syrup dissolves.
  2. Add the frozen strawberries and blueberries directly to the pitcher; they will chill the sangria and slowly release color.
  3. Tuck in the orange and lemon slices and refrigerate for at least 1 hour so the flavors meld.
  4. Fill tall glasses with ice and the frozen berries, layering the strawberries near the bottom and blueberries on top for a red-and-blue effect.
  5. Pour the chilled sangria over the fruit and ice, letting the colors swirl together.
  6. Top each glass with a splash of club soda for a little sparkle.
  7. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig and a citrus slice on the rim.
  8. Serve immediately while frosty and bright.
  9. Sangria is Spain's gift to warm-weather entertaining, a relaxed punch built for sharing on a sunny afternoon. Layering frozen red and blue berries gives this version a festive patriotic look perfect for a Fourth of July spread, while the wine and rum keep it refreshingly crisp rather than cloying.
